A spring visit to the grizzlies at the Bronx reveals a grizzly on the same sloping stone as before. This time, of course, the landscape around it has changed a little, but not much else.

The Grizzly on the Rock

Did you know that grizzlies are omnivores? They’ll eat bark, tubers, roots, bugs, elk, bison, and other bears (of the black variety). They’ve never been known to live in New York, even before human activity threatened them. The grizzly bear is a subspecies of the brown bear.
