No matter how forlorn this guy looks, trying to edge his way away from the multitudes crowded around his enclosure at the Bronx Zoo… well, no, he does look forlorn. I was going to try to say something about the plight of his brothers in the wild, but it would probably be a lot like comparing vampires and el chupacabra — both suck.

The Grizzly on the Rock

Did you know that grizzlies are omnivores? They’ll eat bark, tubers, roots, bugs, elk, bison, and other bears (of the black variety). They’ve never been known to live in New York, even before human activity threatened them. The grizzly bear is a subspecies of the brown bear.
