The Yellow Crowned Night Heron

with one comment

I had been following a butterfly by the marshlands, taking its photo, when something made me turn. There, to my surprise, was a bird I had never seen before. I suspected it was a yellow crowned night heron, despite the lack of yellow crown. It was very calm and watched me watching it for a while, until it decided I was no threat and went back to fishing for its midday meal.
