The Egret in the Puddle

Okay, so it’s a little more than a puddle — but not by much. This snowy egret was stalking little fishy prey in the tidal pools that appear by the side of Dune Road when high tide comes around. Smaller than his Great Egret compadres, I’ve often heard folks mistake the snowy egret for a juvenile great. One of the best ways to establish which you’re looking at is to look at the color of his beak, which on a snowy egret will be black.
