The Peacock on the Pavement

Another great place to go around here is the Holtsville Ecology Center, over in Holtsville (officially I think it might be Brookhaven Ecology Center, but it’s still in Holtsville, so there you go).
It’s free to visit, and they have the usual petting zoo things (feed the goats, coming up in another post), as well as non-releasable animals that have been rehabilitated but for injuries or human imprinting cannot be returned to the wild. Some are farm animals — others are true wild animals, like mountain lions, bears, and a bald eagle. They also have a plethora of peacocks, like the one seen here.
